Prayer pt.3

The Where of prayer-

The Bible teaches us to pray both privately and in company with each other. Matt.6:6-“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Here we see to pray privately. But in Acts 1:14 and 4:24 we read about whole multitudes praying together. Is there a contradiction? No, because if you read the whole context of Matt.6, Jesus is comparing what we should do to what the Pharisees do. The Pharisees would go out into the street and pray to show how holy they are. But Jesus was saying that our reward is in heaven and that we are not go out in the streets to receive the praises of other men. 1 Tim. 2:8 “I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling.” So we are to pray every where, but in a humble and quiet manner, not to be show off but privately as well. Again there has to a balance as to where we are to pray.
